Eubank tabbed as ‘intriguing’ by national writer

Just two weeks ago, college football programs all around
the country announced their 2012 recruiting classes.

Of course, this causes fans and media alike to start
feverishly projecting how these recruits fit into their
respective teams’ futures.

But what about the class of 2011? Or more to the point,
those recruits who didn’t get on the field last season —
the redshirts.

Arizona State has several redshirt freshmen, but none more
intriguing than quarterback Michael Eubank out of
Centennial High School in Corona, California.

How intriguing? Bruce Feldman of CBS Sports
listed his top ten most intriguing redshirt freshmen

heading into 2012, and Eubank came in at number four on
the list.

Writes Feldman:

Todd Graham inherits a very interesting
prospect in the strong-armed, extremely mobile 6-5, 235-
pound kid from Southern California. As talented and raw as
Eubank was, he wasn’t going to beat out Brock Osweiler
last year, but with the former Gonzaga hoops recruit
leaving early for the NFL, there is a big opportunity
there. The new staff is familiar with Eubank because they
tried to recruit him when they were at Pitt. There figures
to be some growing pains with him, but if he can make
smart decisions, he’s going to be a guy worth remembering.
This is a huge “upside” kid.

That familiarity should go along way toward Eubank making
an impact on the field in 2012. He’s expected to compete
with sophomores Mike Bercovici and Taylor Kelly for the
vacant starting job, beginning in spring practice.

In his senior season at Centennial, Eubank threw for 2,770
yards and 22 touchdowns while running for 1,329 yards and
19 scores.
