Arizona State linebacker Brandon Magee is going to play
professional baseball.
But first, he’ll finish up his career at ASU.
Magee, who is set to enter his fifth season with the
football team, has agreed to a contract with the Boston
Red
Sox, who selected him in the 23rd round of the 2012 MLB
Draft.
Magee played baseball at ASU from 2009-11, appearing in
more than 25 games. He started only three games for the
Sun Devils as an outfielder.
Signing with the Red Sox will not prohibit him from
playing
for ASU this season. Magee will be returning to the field
after missing the entire 2011 season due to an achilles
tear
he suffered in preseason camp.
Magee played in all 12 games in 2010, compiling a career-
high 73 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
The Sun Devils had 10 players selected in the MLB Draft,
the
most of any school.
