ESPN NCAA analyst not buying Arizona State yet

The Arizona State Sun Devils head into their bye week with a 4-1 record, including a 2-0 mark in the Pac-12.
They are 26th in the nation in points scored per game, and 14th in points allowed.
In short: they’re playing good football. However, ESPN NCAA analyst Mark May is not ready to buy Sun Devils stock — yet.
“They really haven’t played anybody yet,” May told Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo Tuesday.
Indeed, the Sun Devils have not exactly faced great competition. Their opponents are a combined 12-12 on the season, with an 8-11 record against non-FCS schools.
Add in the fact that ASU has been fortunate to face teams without their starting quarterbacks, and you have a recipe for a record that may not be truly indicative of a team’s talent level.
