UA, ASU players named to Phil Steele’s midseason All-Pac-12 list

The Arizona Wildcats and Arizona State Sun Devils had a collective 15 selections to highlight Phil Steele’s Midseason All-Pac-12 Team.

The Wildcats had an impressive 10 selections, good enough for second most among the conference teams. Oregon and USC led the pack with 11 nods each.

Quarterback Matt Scott, center Kyle Quinn, linebacker Marquis Flowers and safety Jared Tevis were named to the first-team list.

Running back Ka’Deem Carey, receiver Austin Hill, offensive lineman Fabbians Ebbele and punter Kyle Dugandzic earned second-team honors. Receiver Dan Buckner and linebacker Jake Fischer were third-team selections.

Scott has thrown for 2,099 yards with 13 touchdowns so far this season. In his senior campaign, he leads the Pac-12 and ranks No. 4 in the nation in total offense with 389.3 yards per game.

Carey has rushed for 670 yards on 126 carries with 10 touchdowns in six contests. Hill leads Arizona wideouts with 42 catches for 608 yards with five touchdowns this season.

Fischer leads the Arizona defense with 58 total tackles, including two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries. Flowers is second on the team with 44 total tackles and Tevis has 42 with two interceptions returned for 32 yards and three forced fumbles.

Dugandzic is third in the Pac-12 and 19th in the nation in punting with 44.4 yards per kick.

The Sun Devils had five defensive players make the list. Linemen Will Sutton, Brandon Magee were all-conference first team selections, while linebacker Carl Bradford, lineman Junior Onyeali and outside linebacker Chris Young were named to the third team.

Sutton, who currently leads the Pac-12 with 8.5 sacks and 13 tackles for loss after six games this year also earned the honors of a spot on the Midseason All-American Third Team.

Magee leads the Devils with 41 tackles, 2.5 sacks, two interceptions, a forced fumble and fumble recovery. Bradford is second on the team with 4.5 sacks and Onyeali has four sacks and 13 tackles, nearly half of which have been for a loss.
