Michigan football players recreate ‘Lion King’ scene

It is one of the most symbolic scenes in all of cinema.

Rafiki, a mandrill and close friend of Mufasa, holds a newborn lion cub up in the air for the entire animal kingdom to see.

It’s the Circle of Life, and it’s just…beautiful.

The iconic moment from “The Lion King” is often replicated, with arenas now even turning to a “Simba Cam” in order to help entertain their crowds.

Over in Ann Harbor, members of the Michigan football team decided to give it a shot, taking a break from their workout to try and recreate the moment.

According to ESPN’s Brian Bennett:

That’s quarterback John O’Korn on the far left. Offensive lineman Kyle Kalis plays Rafiki, and he lifts up student athletic trainer Adam Olszewski, who should be up for some acting prizes for his portrayal of Simba. Watching in rapt attention on the floor are offensive linemen Mason Cole, Nolan Ulizio and Jon Runyan Jr.

Last year, in their first under coach Jim Harbaugh, the Wolverines posted a 10-3 record, won the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl and finished ranked 12th in the AP Top 25.

If we are to take the “Lion King” story arc, where things started off great for the kingdom before falling into disarray only to become good again, then Michigan is likely to fall on some hard times soon before bouncing back and reclaiming their kingdom, which in this case would be the Big Ten.
