The Arizona baseball team’s College World Series finale will have to wait for sunnier skies. A lingering weather delay caused the cancellation of the deciding Game 3 Wednesday between the Wildcats and the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.

First pitch is now set for 10:08 a.m. MST on Thursday.

The cancellation has caused problems due to ESPN’s broadcasting schedule. As of late Wednesday, the finale will be aired on ESPNEWS.

Arizona won Game 1 of the finals series 3-0 behind a four-hit, complete game by starting pitcher J.C. Cloney on Monday. Coastal Carolina responded by dropping the Wildcats 5-4 on Tuesday, forcing a Game 3 in T.D. Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb.

The game could help Arizona comb over its options when it comes to who is on the mound.

Bobby Dalbec was poised to start Wednesday, but an injury last week to Wildcats ace Nathan Bannister hasn’t ruled him out for the College World Series and could put him in the conversation with an extra day’s rest.

Wildcats coach Jay Johnson even said Tuesday that Bannister wasn’t out of the mix to start Game 3.
