The Arizona Coyotes kicked off free agency by bringing in a new face, and another they are familiar with already.

The Coyotes announced Friday that they signed forward Jamie McGinn to a three-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“We are very pleased to sign Jamie to a three-year contract,” said Coyotes General Manager John Chayka. “Jamie is a big, physical, power forward who scores goals and plays a gritty style. He will be a great addition to our roster.”

McGinn played for both the Buffalo Sabres and the Anahaim Ducks last season. He scored 22 goals and recorded 17 assists in 84 games between the two teams in 2015. His 22 goals and 39 points marked career-highs, and it was the second time in his career he eclipsed the 20-goal mark.

The 27-year-old was originally drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the second round (36th overall) in the 2006 Entry Draft.

McGinn has also played for the Colorado Avalanche. For the four teams, he has appeared in 450 career NHL games, and has scored 91 goals and recorded 76 assists.

The Coyotes also re-signed unrestricted free agent Klas Dahlbeck to a one-year, one-way $750,000 deal.

Dahlbeck played in 71 games for the Coyotes last season, and scored two goals while recording six assists.
