Arizona Diamondbacks ace Zack Greinke left last Tuesday’s start with an oblique injury and is now headed to the disabled list.

Greinke hit his stride in the past two months, winning seven straight decisions from May 17 to June 18 and has not lost since May 12. After a rough start to the season, he has a 10-3 record with a 3.62 ERA.

The 32-year old left the start against the Philadelphia Phillies in the third inning when he started warming up. He called over an umpire and the coaching staff and decided to check out of the game after throwing three warm-up pitches. Arizona went on to lose the game 4-3.

“I didn’t really feel anything until warming up that inning,” Greinke told media members after the game. “Even throwing at 50-70 percent, whatever it was, didn’t feel very good.”

He was scheduled to start July 10 against the San Francisco Giants.

After winning seven of eight games in the middle of June, the D-backs have lost six of their last seven. Their record before Sunday’s game stands at 37-46.
