Feely says Kolb trade was about Fitzgerald

Trading for Kevin Kolb not only solves the Cardinals problem at quarterback, but gives them a leg up on the race to try and re-sign star receiver Larry Fitzgearld.
At least, that’s what kicker Jay Feely thinks.
According to ESPN’s NFC West Blog, Feely told the Doug Gottlieb Show that you can’t underestimate how important Fitzgerald’s impending free agency was in the decision to go get Kolb.
“He is the face of the franchise and one of, if not the best receiver in the NFL — exactly the kind of guy you want to build around,” Feely said. “Obviously, if they didn’t have a quarterback of the future in place, the likelihood of trying to re-sign Larry Fitzgerald after this year would greatly diminish.”
Feely said it will be easier for Fitzgerald to envision a successful future catching passes from someone like Kolb, who is roughly the same age as the Pro Bowler and will conceivably lead the Cardinals for the foreseeable future.
At least, that’s the hope.
