Alex Morgan grants Mackenzie Toman’s Make-A-Wish

Jul 24, 2016, 2:00 PM

Mackenzie Toman, 14, first felt different after scoring two goals in a 4-3 victory in her soccer match.

She couldn’t feel her legs after coming off the field, so her mother took her to the hospital.

Her condition required immediate brain surgery to remove the back of her skull to keep the brain from pushing against her spinal cord. Her surgery lasted eight grueling hours.

She spent six days in the hospital recovering before being moved home to fully recover.

ESPN and the Make-A-Wish Foundation teamed up to grant the young girl’s wish — to meet her idol and World Cup champion Alex Morgan.

Toman, who is fully recovered, went to an exclusive women’s national team practice session in Chicago where she got to kick the ball around with Morgan and was then given a team-autographed jersey.

She watched the United States defeat South Africa 1-0 and was given a team-signed game ball after the match.
