Just hours before Monday’s 1 p.m. trade deadline, FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal reported that Diamondbacks GM Dave Stewart is not going to trade pitcher Shelby Miller.

Just days ago, Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Passan indicated that Miller was on the trading block. Now, Arizona appears to be hanging on to the former All-Star who posted a 3.02 ERA with Atlanta Braves last year.
Miller has struggled mightily in 2016 since Arizona acquired the right-hander for shortstop and former No. 1 pick Dansby Swanson, pitcher Aaron Blair and outfielder Ender Inciarte. In 14 games this year, Miller has gone 2-9 with a 7.14 ERA and 1.745 WHIP. He has since been demoted to Triple-A.
With the Reno Aces, Miller has started three games, posting a 5.02 ERA in 17.2 innings. On the positive side, the 25-year-old has struck out 20 hitters while walking only six since being sent to the minors.
Miller will be arbitration-eligible in the upcoming offseason and is under team control through 2018.
