Arizona Sports Uniform Playoffs – Round of 16, Day #1

The field of 48 uniforms has been shrunk down to 16 as we poll the readers of ArizonaSports.com to name the best major-league threads in the history of the Grand Canyon State.
Round of 16 voting will run Tuesday and Wednesday (Aug. 1 and Aug. 2), then we’ll determine our final four on Thursday and Friday of this week.
Each pro team has at least one uniform left standing, so let your vote be counted!
#1 Suns Barkley-era black alternates vs. #48 Coyotes green desert-themed alternate
It’s a battle of the top seed in the tournament against the ultimate Cinderella story.
The Suns’ first black alts defeated the Suns’ Nash-era home whites easily in the round of 32, getting 78 percent of the vote.
The Coyotes’ green alts have had to win two matches to get to this point; they defeated the D-backs’ current Sedona Red alts by three votes in the first round and the Suns’ current road purples with 68 percent in the second round.

#9 D-backs original black alternates vs. #25 D-backs original Sedona Red alternates
The first D-backs black jerseys earned a narrow victory (10 votes) over the Diamondbacks’ original road grays in the round of 32.
The Snakes’ original Sedona red uniforms defeated the Cardinals’ white road jerseys with blue trim in the first round (57 percent to 43 percent) and the Cardinals original road whites in the second round (60 percent to 40 percent.)

#4 Suns Barkley-era purple roads vs. #20 Cardinals current home reds
The Suns’ Barkley-era road purples breezed to a win over the Cardinals’ current road whites, getting 77 percent of the vote in the round of 32.
The Cardinals’ current homes have two wins so far, beating the D-backs’ current road alternates with turquoise 66-34 and then the D-backs’ current home alternates with turquoise, 59-41.

#5 Cardinals original home reds vs. #12 D-backs second-generation black alternates
The home jerseys worn by the Cardinals upon their arrival in 1988 beat the D-backs’ second-generation road grays 57-43 in the round of 32.
The D-backs’ second-generation black alternates defeated the Coyotes’ black alternates, 57-43, last week.
