WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. (AP) — The New Orleans Saints spent much of their first full day in West Virginia helping the community where they’re opening training camp recover from disastrous flooding.

Much of the Saints’ efforts were focused on a park where there are playing fields, public tennis and basketball courts, and a playground.

Right tackle Zach Strief says, “If any organization understands what it means to clean up from a natural disaster,” it’s the Saints, who played a significant role in helping New Orleans recover after Hurricane Katrina struck in 2005.

The Saints are in their third year holding training camp at the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs.

Flooding in late June killed 23 people in West Virginia, including 15 in Greenbrier County, while damaging numerous structures.
