ASU’s Sendek gets two-year contract extension

While Arizona State may be struggling to find a new
football
coach, the school made sure they won’t have the same
problems in basketball.

According to the Arizona Republic’s Doug Haller,
the Arizona Board of Regents approved a two-year contract
extension for Herb Sendek.

Sendek joined Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo for his
weekly visit on Thursday and talked about his extension.

“It’s something that’s been in the works for the last
couple of years and it finally came through and was
announced today,” he said. “I’m certainly very grateful
about our future together here at Arizona State. It’s a
place that I’d love to finish my career as a coach.”

Sendek, who has compiled a 91-80 record in 5+ seasons in
Tempe, will have his salary remain at $1.2 million per
season, according to the report.

Under Sendek, Arizona State has reached the NCAA
Tournament
once and the NIT twice. The Devils struggled to
a 12-19 record last season and are off to a slow start
this year, winning just three of their first eight games.
