The prize of Herb Sendek’s freshman class has been ruled
ineligible to play this season by the NCAA.
Jahii Carson, a 5-foot-10 guard from Mesa High School, and
the school received the news on Friday according to a tweet from ASUDevils.com.
Carson’s eligibility was being held up by the posting of an
ACT test score. Carson had to retake the entrance exam
because his first score and core course GPA didn’t meet the
NCAA sliding scale for eligibility.
According to the reports, Carson will be permitted to
practice, but he will not be able to play.
This news comes as a major blow to ASU’s basketball program,
which has posted a 3-5 record so far this season without
Carson.
