Sendek suspends three for USC, UCLA games

The Arizona State mens basketball program has been
struggling, and the addition of three suspensions won’t
improve their chances of making changes within the next
two games.

Chris Colvin, Kyle Cain and Keala King will not play in
the games against USC tonight and UCLA on Jan. 7 in a
decision made by Coach Herb Sendek because of
“unacceptable conduct,” according to ASUDevils.com

All three are scholarship players, with King leading the
team with an average of 13.7 points, Cain averaging 8.5
points and Colvin averaging 5.4.

The suspensions were not due to a singular incident
involving all three. Rather, an ASU program source
indicated that there has been a “general lack of
accountability and unwillingness to do what has been asked
of” the players on a regular basis in recent weeks.

Colvin was suspended for a game against North Dakota State
on Dec. 10 for what Sendek called “conduct unacceptable to
any team.”

The Sun Devils (4-9) may see more action from walk-on
freshman Max Heller, who is able to run the point better
than King and Cain. As a whole, Arizona State has averaged
16.5 turnovers per game.

Junior Trent Lockett may also be a possibility playing at
the point.
