Sedona Red Recap: Diamondbacks fall hard as Reds run away early

The Arizona Diamondbacks have been alternating wins and losses for over a week now. And that trend continued on Saturday — in a big way.
One night after grinding out a 4-3 win over the Cincinnati Reds in extra innings, Arizona got run right out of the building. By the end of the second inning, the score was 9-0 Cincinnati. And by the end of the fourth, it was 11-0.
Ultimately, the Diamondbacks fell by a final of 13-0 in front of 34,395 fans at Chase Field. Zack Godley took the loss, after allowing three home runs in just two innings of work.
Arizona had only five batters reach base, while the Reds put together a monster game at the plate — especially Scott Schebler. The 25-year old right fielder homered in each of the first two frames, finishing with three hits and a career-high five RBIs.
With the loss, the Diamondbacks are now 24-43 at home in 2016. And just 54-76 overall.
THE GOOD
-Not much. Michael Bourn picked up a single in the fourth and is now hitting .315 (23-for-73) over his last 18 games.
-Making his first ever Major League appearance, Vicente Campos gave Arizona 5.2 big innings of relief. He wasn’t amazing or anything, allowing two runs in that stretch. But he got the job done and, more importantly, saved the bullpen from what could have been a very long night.
THE BAD
-The first two innings. Pretty much every second of them.
-Godley posted an ERA of 40.50 on the evening, allowing nine runs in just two innings. He’s now surrendered a combined 16 runs over his last two starts.
-Bourn’s error on a Eugenio Suarez fly to left in the fourth allowed a run to score, rather than just ending the inning.

NOTED
-Jean Segura was removed early in the game due to illness, but Hale was hopeful he could be ready in time for the game on Sunday.
-Team Purple defeated Team Red by a final of 5-2 in the D-backs Alumni Game prior to tonight’s contest.
UP NEXT
These two clubs will wrap up their three-game set on Sunday at Chase Field, with Archie Bradley getting the start for Arizona, and Cincinnati countering with Homer Bailey. First pitch is set for 1:10, with pregame coverage beginning at 12:30 on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM.
Bradley (4-8) has picked up just one win since June 19, and hasn’t factored into the decision either of his last two times out. His most recent start came on Aug. 23, when he gave up three runs in five innings of a 7-4 loss to the Braves.
Sunday will mark just his second career start against the Reds. His first came back on July 22 of this year, when he gave up three runs in five innings and took the loss.
Bailey (2-2) is coming off a rough outing on Aug. 22, in which he got touched up to the tune of six runs in just 2.1 innings by the Dodgers. In five starts this season, he has yet to go deeper than six innings. And in three career starts against the D-backs, he’s 0-0 with a 2.81 ERA.
