Cardinals LBs Kareem Martin, Tristan Okpalaugo injured in preseason finale

The Arizona Cardinals took few risks, sitting the majority of their starters in the preseason finale on Thursday. But injuries hit their linebacker depth against the Denver Broncos.

Both Kareem Martin and Tristan Okpalaugo left the game. The team initially believes Martin suffered an MCL injury that could keep him out two to three weeks.

Okpalaugo’s issue was first called a knee issue, but Bruce Arians said after the game it is a hamstring injury.

Martin is second on the depth chart at weakside linebacker, behind starter Markus Golden. Okpalaugo is listed behind Martin.

The 6-foot-6, 272 pound Martin had stood out in camp, Arians said. He has two seasons of experience with Arizona and in 16 games last year recorded nine tackles and 1.5 sacks to go with a forced fumble.

Okpalaugo is a journeyman who was a rookie free agent who signed with the Dolphins in 2013. He has played in camps with the Minnesota Vikings and Dallas Cowboys but spent the last two years in the Canadian football league.
