After Arizona State’s 51-41 win over the California Golden Bears, the Pac-12 announced kicker Zane Gonzalez is the Special Teams Player of the Week.

This is the second-consecutive week he has taken home the award. The previous week against the University of Texas at San Antonio, he went 4 for 5, while hitting two from 54-yards out. He is in the midst of a sensational year, as he is 11 for 12 on field goals, while hitting three from 50-plus yards. He’s also on the heels of breaking some records.

Gonzalez nailed career field goals 82, 83 and 84 against Cal, and he is now within one field goal of tying the Pac-12 record for the most in a career, set by UCLA’s Kai Forbath (2007-10). That isn’t the only record he’s close to shattering, as he is only four successful field goals away from tying Florida State’s Dustin Hopkins’ NCAA record of 88. He also needs a field goal in each of his next two games to tie Luis Zendejas’ school record of 45 for most consecutive games with a field goal.

Along with the three field goals against Cal, he added six extra points and seven touchbacks.

Gonzalez and the Sun Devils will face the USC Trojans (1-3) Saturday in Los Angeles at 5:45 p.m. on FOX.
