Coach says Kolb will play in preseason opener

Fans anxious to see Kevin Kolb play in a Cardinals jersey won’t have to wait long, according to head coach Ken Whisenhunt.
“He’ll play some in the first preseason game,” the coach said of his QB, who will have roughly a week of true practice time under his belt before next Thursday’s game in Oakland. “We’ll see how much; it depends on how comfortable he is with the offense going into it, but I expect him to play.”
While it will be a first look at Kolb in a new offense with new teammates, it should be anything but a gauge of how good he is or will be. Expectations should be kept in check, like in all preseason games, but even more for a guy who is about as new to a team as anyone can be.
“Hopefully just a command of the offense in the huddle, being able to get guys in and out of the huddle,” Whisenhunt said of what he hopes to see. “I know it’s probably not going to be perfect.
“I’m not expecting him to go 20 for 20 and have the perfect day, but I think think more the operation part of it, that’s what you’d like to see.”
