Hall of Fame QB would give up a third-rounder for Carson Palmer

Apr 1, 2011, 2:42 PM | Updated: 3:04 pm

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer wants out of Cincinnati before next season.

Palmer has said he may retire if he does not get his wish of being traded.

That has to beg the question then, what would Cincinnati want in return for the 31-year-old quarterback?

One said team to be interested is the Miami Dolphins.

If former Dolphin QB Dan Marino was running the team he would look into getting Palmer but not for anything higher than a middle round draft pick, according to the Miami Herald.

“I’ve always liked Carson,” Marino said after addressing sports business executives. “For a third-rounder, I would do it.”

If that ends up being the case then I think it’s safe to say Chad Henne will still be the quarterback for the Dolphins next season.

While I certainly don’t think the Cardinals would be entertaining the idea of Palmer for the No. 5 overall pick, one has to be curious to their thoughts of a second-rounder (No. 38 overall) for the what would be ninth-year QB.

Palmer is coming off a year in which he threw for nearly 4,000 yards, had 26 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.

After a season of Chad Ochocinco and Terrell Owens together, Palmer wants new targets.
