PHOENIX — There’s one new face at Camp Cardinals.

The team announced Friday it had signed tackle Max Starks. It also released tackle Cory Brandon and kicker Danny Hrapmann.

Starks, a two-time Super Bowl champion, has spent 10 years in the NFL, nine of those with the Pittsburgh Steelers, including eight with Cardinals coach Bruce Arians on staff.

He appeared in two games with the St. Louis Rams in 2013 after being released by the San Diego Chargers. He has started 98 of the 125 regular season games he’s appeared in.

Starks is not expected to take Bobby Massie’s starting position at right tackle like Eric Winston did last season when the team signed him at the beginning of training camp. Starks will instead practice with the second team at both left and right tackle.

“Max is a proven player in the league,” Arians said Friday. “He’s in fantastic condition and we’ll add good quality depth and competition at that spot.

“We’re always searching for guys who are still available who we think can add depth right now and build a roster (so) that injuries won’t matter. That’s really where we’re at right now. You want to give young players all the benefit of the doubt, but once you know that they can’t help you, it’s time to build the depth in your roster.”

The 6-foot-8, 345 pound Starks is a native of Orlando. He was originally taken in the third round by the Steelers in the 2004 Draft and played his college ball at Florida.

Brandon, 26, was signed by the Cardinals in May. He has not appeared in an NFL game, but was on the Chicago Bears’ practice squad.

Hrapmann, 25, signed a futures contract with the Cardinals in January.
