Cardinals-Seahawks tie on Sunday Night Football was for masochists

Oct 23, 2016, 9:26 PM | Updated: 11:36 pm

We’re here to talk you down.

Because we all shared in the agony of the dropped catches in key situations.

We witnessed the missed bunny field goals.

There was that blocked field goal by legal means that was sort of cool — if you’re a fan of the Seattle Seahawks.

But the Sunday Night Football game, a 6-6 tie between the Arizona Cardinals and the Seahawks, wasn’t enjoyed by all. In the midst of the NFL’s ratings slipping, the two teams were featured on primetime only to each miss an overtime field goal that would have won it.

Arizona’s Chandler Catanzaro missed a 24-yarder and Seattle’s Stephen Hauschka followed by erring on a 28-yard attempt. That left the Cardinals with no time to move down the field. Time ran out, and the teams left University of Phoenix Stadium with a tie. It was the third since the merger that ended with the 6-6 score, and coincidentally, all involved the Cardinals, per ESPN Stats & Info.

It was the first tie without a touchdown since 1972 in NFL history.

Anyway, sports fans across social media weren’t exactly enjoying themselves, and that tone was present even before the 3-3 end-of-regulation game went into the cringe-worthy overtime.

Those involved in the game weren’t extremely pleased, either.
