The results are in, and they’re decisive: Most voters say the Arizona Cardinals should go a different direction at the placekicking position by selecting the rookie out of Clemson in favor of the 13-year veteran.
In Wednesday’s Sanderson Ford Poll Question of the Day, we asked:
Who would you like to see the Cardinals go with at kicker?
We provided three answers:
• Jay Feely
• Chandler Catanzaro
• Other
Out of nearly 1,000 votes cast, 65% of voters said the Cardinals should dismiss the 38-year-old Feely in favor of the 23-year-old Catanzaro.
Through two exhibition games, Catanzaro has outshone Feely, connecting on all three of his field-goal attempts and producing longer kickoffs.
To be fair, Feely is yet to attempt a field goal thus far during the preseason, but his kickoffs have been notably shorter than Catanzaro’s, and his final extra point in Saturday’s 30-28 loss to the Minnesota Vikings went through only after ricocheting off an upright.
Feely said earlier this week that he’s grateful for the chance to keep his job, and he’s looking forward to getting more work in during the Cards’ final two preseason games.
