Arizona Cardinals’ Carson Palmer believes he’ll be back against Denver Broncos

With the Arizona Cardinals on a bye in Week 4, there are plenty of players using the time to get closer to 100 percent healthy.

Running back Andre Ellington, who has been bothered by a foot injury, will benefit. So will cornerback Antonio Cromartie, who dinged up his knee in last Sunday’s win over the San Francisco 49ers.

You can put quarterback Carson Palmer into that category as well. The veteran has missed the last two games with a nerve issue in his right shoulder, but according to ESPN’s Ed Werder, Palmer believes he’ll be back in Week 5 against the Denver Broncos.

Palmer suffered the injury in the Cardinals’ Monday Night Football season opener against the San Diego Chargers when he was hit by safety Eric Weddle on a scramble. He finished the game, but the condition worsened and kept him out of wins against the New York Giants and San Francisco.

Backup Drew Stanton has performed well in Palmer’s absence, completing 51.6 percent of his passes for 411 yards and two touchdowns.
