Patrick Peterson, David Johnson reveal custom cleats for ‘My Cause, My Cleats’

NFL players around the league plan to wear custom cleats during this week’s slate of games for the ‘My Cause, My Cleats’ initiative. The cleats reflect the players’ commitment to various charities, and also provide awareness to real-world situations.

The Arizona Cardinals showcased the custom cleats that quarterback Carson Palmer, receiver Larry Fitzgerald and safety Tyrann Mathieu plan to wear against the Washington Redskins; now, defensive back Patrick Peterson and running back David Johnson have revealed their cleats and causes.

Peterson’s cleats highlights the Patrick Peterson Foundation for Success. The mission of the foundation is to provide low-income and inner city youth with opportunities and resources to reach their full potential. Peterson’s foundation has multiple programs centered around reading and providing students with school supplies, clothing and shoes.

Johnson’s cleats emphasis the need to stop bullying and reads “you are not alone” and anti-bullying” on each shoe. According to stopbullying.gov, approximately 30 percent of young people have admitted to bullying others, while 70.6 percent of young people have witnessed it.
