Another day, another Derrick Jones Jr. slam for the Northern Arizona Suns

Derrick Jones Jr. probably won’t be topping last week’s off-hand, alley-oop tomahawk slam dunk anytime soon.
That doesn’t mean he won’t be appearing on highlight reels on a weekly basis.
The Phoenix Suns rookie, on assignment with the D-League team in Prescott Valley, unloaded another vicious dunk Saturday night in a 113-107 home victory against the Iowa Energy.
This time, Jones cut at just the right time and took off for a hanging one-handed dunk off a dish from Johnny O’Bryant. For some reason, defenders are still standing in the way, attempting to make a play before realizing it’s not going to happen. In this case, one Iowa player has enough time to give up on being a hero while Jones seemingly floats above him.
We need Neil deGrasse Tyson to explain why Jones exists in a parallel universe where time seems to speed up and slow down. Something about relativity, he’d probably say.
Anyway, Jones led Northern Arizona with 23 points on 9-of-11 shooting Saturday. The 19-year-old also added eight rebounds and four steals for the Suns’ D-League team that is at the top of the Western Conference standings with a 10-1 record.
