Arizona Coyotes forward Max Domi underwent successful hand surgery Tuesday and will be out indefinitely, the team announced.
The second-year pro injured his hand in a fight with the Calgary Flames’ Garnet Hathaway on Thursday and left the game bleeding under his eye, but the team has remained quiet on the specifics of his injury.
The Coyotes put the left wing on injured reserve this weekend with an upper-body injury and listed him week-to-week. Reports from Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos indicated Domi could miss up to six weeks due to a hand injury.
So far this season, Domi has five goals and is tied with a team-high 11 assists in 26 games.
“Max has got to play the way he plays,” Coyotes coach Dave Tippett said Thursday following Domi’s fight. “He’s a hard player. You’d never like to see anybody get hurt, but Max has got to play hard.”
