The University of Arizona signed 17 players to National Letters of intent Wednesday, including two home town stars from around Tucson.

The 2011 class includes Rivals.com three star rated offensive lineman Jacob Arzouman from Salpointe Catholic High School, who is expected to play at guard or center for the Wildcats and four star running back Ka’deem Carey from Canyon del Oro High School.

Carey committed to the U of A last summer but flirted with becoming a Sun Devil until signing with the Wildcats Wednesday.

The class included 11 offensive players, nine defensive players and two kickers, including prep players and junior college transfers.

Three of the recruits were from Arizona while the others are products of Texas, Hawaii, Oklahoma, Louisiana and American Samoa.

The U of A also landed three star recruit and Oklahoma native Domonique Petties, who was also considering Arkansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Pittsburgh, Texas A&M, Texas Tech and Tulsa.

“We’re pleased with the overall class and the job our staff did in evaluation and keeping on top of the entire process,” Stoops said.

“We filled immediate needs and got players on both sides of the ball and for the kicking game.”
