Offense will carry Cats if line can hold up

Apr 19, 2011, 5:50 PM | Updated: 7:03 pm

If the Arizona Wildcats are to contend in the Pac-12 South next season it will be the offense that leads the way.

Senior quarterback Nick Foles has a number of pass catchers to throw the ball to, including Juron Criner and Texas transfer Dan Buckner. However, their biggest question mark is up front, as the Wildcats are replacing all five starting offensive linemen from last year’s squad.

“It’s been pretty exciting just watching them grow each and every day,” Arizona offensive coordinator Seth Littrell told ESPN’s Ted Miller. “The biggest thing they’re doing right now is competing and learning, getting some chemistry with each other.”

As anyone knows, though, no matter how talented the skill players are on offense if the line can’t open holes and give Foles time to throw the conference’s most talented group of receivers will be wasted.

And that’s the real question for this group, at least offensively. The talent is there to score plenty of points, as long as the quarterback can stay vertical long enough to get passes off.
