Mike Leach an option for Arizona? Not so fast
The possibilities for the new University of Arizona football coach are endless, making it fun to speculate on big names for the vacant spot.
Arizona Sports 620’s Doug and Wolf latest debate was former Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach. Let’s just say the two didn’t see eye-to-eye.
“You’ve got a guy who can come right in, immediately install something that’s completely different and completely strange, that wins at the college level,” Doug Franz said.
Leach led the Red Raiders out of obscurity when he took over in 2000 to a Cotton Bowl appearance in 2008 before being fired in 2009.
Leach was known for his temper, sound familiar Wildcat fans?
“Many people have pointed at Mike Leach and said this guy is a nut-job,” Ron Wolfley said.
Count Wolfley out as a believer in the Leach to Arizona idea.
“There is no way in the world that he is going to be considered,” Wolfley said. “His baggage looks very similar to the departed one, Mike Stoops.”
