Rich Rod called leading candidate for UA job

Nov 21, 2011, 10:29 PM | Updated: 10:48 pm

Numerous sources, including CBS’ Bruce Feldman,
are
reporting that former West Virginia and Michigan head
coach Rich Rodriguez is the leading contender to take over
the vacant head football coaching job at the University of
Arizona.

Feldmans’s tweet Monday afternoon read:

Expect Rich Rodriguez to named the next
Arizona head coach in the next 48 hours according to
sources

Several rumors had flown around about former Oregon head
coach Mike Bellotti being the man for the job, but now the
buzz seems to be around Rodriguez.

Rodriguez didn’t coach in 2011, instead serving as an
analyst for CBS College Sports after being fired at the
University of Michigan. Rodriguez guided the Wolverines
for three seasons, going 15-22.

Prior to his stint in Ann Arbor, Rodriguez coached seven
seasons
at his alma mater West Virginia, helping them to a 60-26
record and six consecutive bowl appearances.
