Arizona QB Foles drafted by Eagles

Apr 28, 2012, 2:36 AM | Updated: 3:51 pm

Arizona’s Nick Foles was selected by the Philadelphia Eagles
with the 88th pick in the third round Friday, making him the
school’s first drafted QB since Eddie Wilson in 1962.

Foles deserved to be picked.

The 6-foot-5, 240 pound QB started for Arizona the last
two-and-a-half years, and finished his career as the
school’s all-time leader in passing yards (10,011) and
tied for the top mark in career touchdown passes with 67.

Foles, who set a Pac-12 record with 4,334 yards passing as
a senior in 2011, was accurate throughout his college
career, but is not known as the best athlete and has
questionable footwork at times.

Playing for a team that had its struggles, Foles also had
a tendency to make questionable decisions with the ball,
often times forcing it into coverage.

He finished his final season in Tucson with a career-best
28 touchdowns, but also a career-high 14 interceptions.

However, he boasts prototypical size and strength, and his
production at the collegiate level was as good as anyone
who will be drafted this season.

The Wildcat was the sixth QB taken in the draft, being
selected after Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III, Ryan
Tannehill, Brandon Weeden and Brock Osweiler.
