Arizona’s Ka’Deem Carey ‘runs angry’

Lost in the gaudy numbers put up by Arizona’s offense is the emergence of running back Ka’Deem Carey.
A sophomore, Carey has accumulated 670 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground, and has added 220 yards and one score as a receiver.
He’s coming off an impressive performance in Arizona’s loss at Stanford in which he ran for 132 yards and three touchdowns on 29 carries.
Next to quarterback Matt Scott, the Tucson native has easily been Arizona’s most impressive player, and Arizona head coach Rich Rodriguez thinks he knows why Carey has been so effective.
“I think one reason why he’s so consistent and why he runs hard all the time is because he runs angry or hungry,” Rodriguez told Arizona Sports 602’s Doug and Wolf Tuesday. “He doesn’t want one guy to be able to bring him down.”
Rodriguez noted that some guys will fall down on their own but Carey must be brought down by a defender. And while Carey is 12th in the nation in rushing yards and fourth in rushing touchdowns, the first-year Arizona coach thinks the best is still yet to come.
