It’s fair to say Anu Solomon’s debut as the Arizona Wildcats’ starting quarterback could not have gone much better.
The redshirt freshman completed 25-of-44 passes for 425 yards and four touchdowns. He also rushed for 50 yards while leading the Wildcats to a 58-13 victory over UNLV.
For his efforts, Solomon was named the Athlon Sports National Freshman of the Week.
Solomon, who was the first freshman to ever start Week 1 for the Wildcats, had touchdown passes of 39, 63, 13 and 92 yards, and his 17.0 yards per completion set a new single-game school record for a QB with 20 or more completions.
