Accolades and nominations continue to pour in for University of Arizona linebacker Scooby Wright III.

On Wednesday, Wright was named one of five finalists for the Walter Camp Football Foundation 2014 Player of the Year.

The linebacker is one of two Pac-12 performers to be named a finalist, and he is the only defensive player on the list.

After Arizona’s 42-35 win over in-state rival Arizona State, Wright got the nod for the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week. It marked his third time receiving the honor in 2014, a new school record for a single season.

The sophomore also was named the Pat Tillman Defensive Player of the Year earlier this week, the top honor for a defender in the conference. Additionally, Wright also was the only Wildcat named to the All-Pac-12 first team.

The 6-foot-1, 246-pound defender is also a finalist for the Bronko Nagurski Trophy, the Rotary Lombardi Award and the Chuck Bednarik Award.

This season, Wright ranks in the top five among Division I-A players for total tackles (139), tackles for loss (27.0), sacks (14.0) and forced fumbles (six). His 2.3 tackles for loss per game lead the nation. His number of sacks and tackles for loss each rank third in school single-season history.

The winner of the Walter Camp award, as voted on by Division I-A coaches and sports information directors, will be announced Thursday, Dec. 11, during the evening edition of ESPN’s “SportsCenter.” The winner will receive his trophy at the foundation’s annual national awards banquet on Saturday, Jan. 17, 2015, in New Haven, Connecticut. Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston won the award last year.
