Wonder how much Sean Miller’s players appreciate their head coach?
According to the Tucson Citizen, Miller will leave Tucson Thursday morning to join Williams, his family and friends at the draft.
This will be Miller’s first trip to the draft.
“More than anything, I’m just so excited for Derrick and his family. So rarely do you even have the opportunity to be part of the NBA. But to be the first or second pick, it’s an exciting time for him. For me, it’s about supporting him and knowing how far he has come.”
While it may surprise some that Miller, whose team would have been a National Championship favorite had Williams returned for his junior season, would be excited for his forward, the truth is he is proving to be the type of coach who will do what is best for his players, even if it costs his team.
And that, everyone, is the type of coach high school kids will want to play for.
