Arizona Wildcats drop in AP, coaches’ polls after loss to UNLV
The Arizona Wildcats ended their non-conference schedule with their first loss of the season, dropping them several spots in both national polls.
The Wildcats, who entered last week ranked No. 3 in the Associated Press and USA TODAY Coaches polls, dropped to No. 7 in the coaches’ poll and No. 8 in the AP poll Monday.
UA opened the season 12-0 but suffered a 71-67 loss Tuesday at unranked UNLV.
Kentucky and Duke held firm at No. 1 and 2, respectively, in both polls, and Virginia took the Wildcats’ spot at No. 3 in both polls.
UA remains the highest-ranked Pac-12 team heading into Sunday’s conference opener vs. Arizona State. Utah moved to No. 10 in the AP poll and No. 12 in the coaches’ poll after winning its only game of the week Tuesday against South Dakota State, and Washington slid to No. 21 in the AP poll and No. 19 in the coaches’ poll after its first loss of the season Sunday at home against Stony Brook.
