Northern Arizona still looking for first home win after loss to Sacramento State

Jan 14, 2017, 3:36 PM

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) — Justin Strings scored 21 points, Nick Hornsby had 17 points and 11 rebounds and Sacramento State used a big second half to beat Northern Arizona 74-62 on Saturday.

Sacramento State trailed 37-27 at halftime but held NAU to just 25 points in the second half for its first win in Flagstaff since Feb. 26, 2005.

The Hornets went on a 20-0 run — with eight points by Strings — in the second half to take control. NAU scored on two of its first three possessions of the second half but was stuck on 41 points until the 10 minute mark and trailed by eight points.

Marcus Graves had 13 points and Eric Stuteville added 12 for Sacramento (5-11, 2-4 Big Sky), which won back-to-back conference road games for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

Jordyn Martin scored 14 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for Northern Arizona (3-14, 0-4), which is still seeking its first home win of the season. Marcus DeBerry and Mike Green each had 10 points and five assists. Nine of NAU’s 21 made field goals were from distance.
