Four Arizona Wildcats honored in Pac-12’s end-of-season awards

Mar 9, 2015, 5:16 PM | Updated: 5:40 pm

The Arizona Wildcats had a banner 2014-15 season, going 28-3 with a 16-2 record in Pac-12 play.

One of the country’s better teams, it makes complete sense that they would have multiple players win conference awards.

And they did.

Point guard T.J. McConnell along with forwards Stanley Johnson and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson were named to the All-Pac-12 First Team. Brandon Ashley was named honorable mention for the Second-Team. Arizona is the only program with multiple first-team honorees.

Johnson was also named to the All-Freshman Team as well as the Pac-12’s Freshman of the Year, while McConnell and Hollis-Jefferson were placed on the All-Defensive Team.

McConnell averaged 9.6 points and a Pac-12-best 6.3 assists per game this season.

Hollis-Jefferson averaged 11.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.1 steals and 0.9 blocks per game.

Johnson led the Wildcats in scoring at 13.9 points per game, while also pulling down 6.6 rebounds, dishing out 1.8 assists and coming up with 1.5 steals.

Ashley, a junior, averaged 11.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 49.4 percent from the field.

The Pac-12 award voting is done by the conference’s 12 coaches, and they are not allowed to vote for themselves or their players.
