Admit it — there are many times during college football season where you turn a game on and have to look at the on-screen scoreboard graphic to find out who’s playing.
It’s difficult to determine who’s who these days because of the growth in popularity of alternate uniforms.
For the last few years, the Arizona State Sun Devils have been among the fashion-forward; teams that have seemingly countless uniform and helmet combinations. One of theirs, along with an alternate of their arch-rival, the Arizona Wildcats, is nominated for Uniswag.com’s Uniform of the Year.
The all-white uniform and copper helmet combination the Sun Devils sported in their 54-39 road loss at Oregon on Oct. 29 got recognition from the uniform website. The game marked the first and only time the Devils wore their copper alternate helmet.
Arizona’s entry, USS Arizona Pearl Harbor-themed tributes, were worn in a 47-28 home win over Hawaii on Sept. 17, and drew rave reviews from uniform critics all over the internet.
Other teams nominated for Uniform of the Year were Air Force, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, TCU, East Carolina, Utah and Michigan.
