Counting calories: A look at baseball parks’ new delicacies

Last year, the Arizona Diamondbacks introduced the world to the D-bat Dog, an 18-inch corn dog stuffed with cheese, jalapenos and bacon.

This year, the D-backs have brought us the Churro Dog. It’s a churro inside of a glazed donut topped with frozen yogurt, caramel and chocolate sauce. Yum.

Of course, the D-backs aren’t the only ones giving fans a new treat.

From the Heart Attack Burger to the Cuban Pretzel Dog, teams across the nation are introducing creative ways for a person to gain five pounds while watching a baseball game.

The Atlanta Braves are introducing alcohol-infused cupcakes. The Houston Astros came up with a chicken and waffle cone with mashed potatoes. The Milwaukee Brewers are trying to keep fans’ hands clean by providing nachos on a stick. The list goes on and on.

Clearly bringing a bag of sunflower seeds to the game and chewing through them casually is clearly an old fad. And calories? We don’t care about no stinkin’ calories!

Below is a compilation of those and a few other treats expected to hit ballparks across the country this season. Some look delicious, others look ridiculous. And trust us when we say there is plenty of interestingly ball park fare we didn’t even get to.

Bon appétit.
