No. 10 Louisville women rout Old Dominion 100-46

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Freshman Mariya Moore scored 15 points to help No. 10 Louisville rout Old Dominion 100-46 on Monday night.

Bouncing back from a loss to No. 8 Kentucky, the Cardinals (9-1) shot 52 percent from the field, including 64.3 percent from 3-point range. Louisville led 54-19 at the half and had a season-high 59 rebounds_18 on the offensive end_to the Monarchs’ 30.

Sara Hammond had 14 points, Jude Schimmel and Myisha Hines-Allen added 12 apiece, Bria Smith and Emmonnie Henderson each had 11 each and Megan Deines finished with 10.

Chelisa Painter and Destinee Young each had eight points for Old Dominion (5-3).

“We played the best I think we’ve played all year,” Louisville coach Jeff Walz said.

The fifth meeting between the two programs — ODU won three of the first four — was tied at 5 before the Cardinals took control with a 17-0 surge.

Louisville’s run was keyed by its dominance on the glass — it grabbed 18 of the game’s first 22 rebounds — and strong outside shooting. The Cardinals hit five of their first seven 3-point attempts while the Monarchs missed their first seven. Moore made back-to-back 3s near the end of the 17-0 run.

Louisville closed the first half with a 20-3 surge to lead by 35 at intermission. The Cardinals outrebounded Old Dominion 35-15 and outscored it 21-0 in points off turnovers in the first half.

Louisville shot 62.5 percent (20 for 32) in the second half, when it outscored the Monarchs 46-27. Schimmel also had 10 assists for Louisville, which totaled 25, while Henderson paced the Cardinals with nine rebounds.

Old Dominion, which had won three of its previous four games, shot 29.9 percent from the field – including 14.3 percent from 3-point range in the loss.
