CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Lance Stephenson made a 33-footer jump shot off the glass in double overtime to lift the Charlotte Hornets to a 122-119 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday night.
Off a half court inbounds play, Stephenson gathered the ball from Kemba Walker elevated before releasing the winner. He raced over and jumped on top of the scorer’s table and began pounding his chest as the crowd went wild.
Al Jefferson scored a season-high 34 points, Gary Neal added 23 points off the bench for the Hornets (3-3). Stephenson had his first double-double with the Hornets with 17 points and 13 rebounds, and the Hornets snapped a six-game losing to the Hawks in Charlotte.
Al Horford led Atlanta (1-3) with 24 points and Jeff Teague added 22. Kyle Korver had 20.
The Hornets had a chance to win the game in double overtime but Walker drove, lost his balance and threw up a shot that missed the rim resulting in a 24-second violation with 2.5 seconds left.
