Not bubbling with intensity

Mar 14, 2014, 5:41 PM | Updated: Jul 26, 2024, 12:22 pm

We saw very little desperation from our teams or people on the bubble over the last few days. That must change this weekend.

ASU

UP NEXT: Selection Sunday

COMMENTARY: The way the Devils have played recently, they don’t deserve to go to the NCAA Tournament. Luckily, because of the way they’ve played over the last five months, they do deserve to go. If desperation doesn’t become an immediate part of their game plan, their seed won’t matter because they’ll be home for the weekend no matter what.

REQUEST: Please dunk the ball, Bachynski

COYOTES

UP NEXT: Home against Calgary on Saturday

COMMENTARY: I don’t know what happened to this team. Listen, winning in Boston is hard. The Bruins are great. What’s impossible to explain is the first period of Thursday night’s game. The Coyotes forgot who they were. More talented teams never used to be the problem because Phoenix would set the terms of engagement early in the game. Remember the first round upset of Chicago? That was Coyotes hockey.

REQUEST: Please shoot the puck, Ribeiro

SUNS

UP NEXT: 3 games/4 nights

COMMENTARY: One simple question: do you want to go to the playoffs or not? I can completely accept the Suns not making the playoffs. I can even understand them choking under the pressure because they’re young. They need to learn what stretch-run tension really is. I can’t handle the lack of desire, passion and desperation.

REQUEST: Hold these three opponents to less than 23 points in the first quarter.

All three teams mentioned above are bubble teams, and their lack of intensity is doing more to burst the bubble than their opposition.
