Goldschmidt moves up while Lamb, Owings sit fifth in All-Star balloting

Three D-backs sit among the top five in All-Star Game voting for their respective positions.

The latest balloting, which was released Monday, is the third of five updates before voting closes on June 29.

Paul Goldschmidt (560,456 votes) moved up one spot in balloting into third place but trails the Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo (950,851) and the Nationals’ Ryan Zimmerman (1,060,532).

As an NL first baseman, Goldschmidt ranks second in average (.317), hits (72), and RBI (51).

Shortstop Chris Owings (426,590 votes) moved down a spot from last week’s rankings into fifth place.

As of now he is trailing Trea Turner, Addison Russell, Corey Seager and the leader Zack Cozart (997,966).

Among NL shortstops, Owings ranks first in RBI (37) and second in average (.297) and hits (66).

With 57 RBI, Jake Lamb leads MLB and finally cracked the top five in All-Star balloting, sitting fifth among NL third basemen.

Lamb (387,228 votes), trails the third basemen leader Kris Bryant by 861,120 votes.

Along with RBI, Lamb also leads NL third basemen in home runs (16) and ranks third in hits (64) and seventh in average (.274).
