J.D. Martinez crushes Diamondbacks record four home runs

With the Arizona Diamondbacks still in the National League Wild Card race, every game means something.
Especially when it’s against the rival Los Angeles Dodgers.
In a game where the D-backs were without star player Paul Goldschmidt, right fielder J.D. Martinez picked up the slack, getting the Snakes on the board first with a two-run shot in the fourth inning.
He wasn’t done there.
In the seventh inning, he connected again, this time with a solo home run to push the D-backs’ lead to 3-0. The rest of the order filled suit, adding three more runs to push the lead to 6-0.
But wait, there’s more.
Martinez continued to pour it on, crushing his third homer of the night in the eighth inning and then following it up with another shot in the ninth.

He finished the night going 4-for-5, all hits being homers, with six RBI. It was his sixth multi-home run game and the second four-HR performance of the year. Cincinnati’s Scooter Gennett accomplished the feat in June.
“It’s more rare than a perfect game,” D-backs pitcher Robbie Ray said.
It was the first time in D-backs history that a player has hit four home runs in a single game and just the eighteenth time in MLB history.
In 40 games with the team, Martinez has hit 18 home runs with 40 RBI and an OPS of 1.025.

No, you're putting words on my fingers. I didn't say all of them were too expensive, you just had to choose who you keep. First, I would prefer to trade Pollock. But if they do keep him, he's 29, a five year extension is what it is with all his injury history. Second, I would want to keep JD and 30 is a big difference from 32, I'm fine with 5 years at $125-ish. Third, two words: Albert Pujols. Goldy is not tenable to stay on this team starting in a year when he's 32 and costing at least $150 million.
So in summary; keep JD, trade AJ and trade Goldy or let him just finish his contract. His last year and 31-years-old he's making $14.5 million and that's incredibly affordable for a former MVP. ;) The issue there is will his agent let him get to that point without an extension or trade?
The pay roll is more in the $115 range. I'm not saying they'll trade Goldy next year, I'm thinking more prior to the '19 year or they let him walk. They can afford JD as they know what it would take for Pollock and JD isn't that much more. If we lose in the one game WC game, then I think they might look at trading Greinke, that would be my ultimate goal. He's way too expensive for his age...kind of like Goldy will be. ;)
Gotcha. But can we afford Grienke (35 million), JD(probs 20 million), Goldy(15million) and Tomas(13 million) all at the same time, next year? Thats 85 million for a team thats budget was 150million? If you are right, and they will trade both Goldy and Pollock, wouldnt that have to be done next year? There is no way they trade Goldy next year to make cap space, then you are done with the playoff window. Having an All-star\MVP candidate at 11 and 14 million with multiple years left on the contract (2019 is a team option right) is too hard to pass up. Trading pollock isnt enough to sign JD. Thats why i was thinking Grienkie (or the unmovable tomas, who isnt going anywhere unfortunately) would be the better option.
