Free agent quarterback Drew Stanton will be dancing on the sidelines of the Cleveland Browns next season after agreeing to a two-year deal to back up starter Tyrod Taylor, the team announced Friday.

Stanton spent the past four years with the Arizona Cardinals playing behind Carson Palmer and last year threw for 894 yards while completing 49.7 percent of his passes. He threw six touchdowns to five interceptions.

A Nov. 9 game against the Seattle Seahawks saw him injure his knee, leaving the starting spot open for Blaine Gabbert to quarterback the next five games. Stanton returned for the final two games of the regular season.

Stanton, 34, moved on from Arizona after the team signed quarterbacks Sam Bradford and Mike Glennon in free agency.

Prior to his time with the Cardinals and former coach Bruce Arians, Stanton spent his first three years in the NFL with the Detroit Lions. He then had a brief stint with the New York Jets before he joined the Indianapolis Colts in 2012, where he backed up Andrew Luck under Arians, who was offensive coordinator and for a time was interim head coach.

The quarterback turnover for the Cardinals began this offseason with Palmer’s retirement.

While Stanton now has a new home, Gabbert remains unsigned.
