Former Arizona Wildcats starting quarterback Brandon Dawkins will be joining Indiana for his final season of college football.

Dawkins, who informed ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg of his plans, graduates from Arizona next month and is immediately eligible to play as a graduate transfer.

In three years with Arizona, Dawkins played in 22 games and threw for 2, 418 yards and 15 touchdowns. A dual-threat option, he racked up an additional 1,582 yards and 20 touchdowns on the ground.

Dawkins told Rittenberg the Hoosiers were the right fit.

“I could have committed there two weeks ago,” he said. “There were other schools, but at the end of the day, Indiana definitely showed that they’re interested and they wanted me, they made that clear and apparent. I really respect that about them. They weren’t going to dance around. They genuinely wanted me.”

After starting the entirety of the 2016 season and part of 2017, Dawkins was replaced by Khalil Tate as the starting quarterback of the Wildcats. Tate’s success down the stretch likely played a part in Dawkins’ decision to transfer.

At Indiana, Dawkins is expected to compete for the starting job alongside sophomore Peyton Ramsey, who started four games last year.
