Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Steven Souza is scheduled to throw from about 110-120 feet on Monday, the Associated Press reported.
The D-backs received Souza in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays over the offseason. The outfielder was expected to help replace the production of J.D. Martinez, who signed with the Boston Red Sox.
Instead, Souza has spent the first month of the season on the disabled list.
On March 21, he suffered a pectoral strain while diving for a fly ball in the outfield during spring training.
Throwing has been the biggest obstacle for Souza as he played in extended spring training games throughout April.
He played catch from 125 feet at the beginning of April, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reported.
